  • Lanterns & Lights (Solar)

    • Do your solar lights come with batteries?

Yes, all solar lights have rechargeable batteries. They are designed to charge the batteries during the day so that the batteries can power the light at night. Our solar lights come with batteries already installed and the specs vary by product. Some products may have a pull tab that needs to be removed so the battery can make a connection, but if not noted then it does not have a pull tab.
When you need to replace the batteries make sure to use the same spec as the original (examples are AA / AAA 1.2v Ni-MH, or 14500 / 18650 3.2v Li-Ion). Do not install regular alkaline batteries in a solar lantern and put it out in the sun because alkaline batteries can't be recharged. If you install alkaline batteries they leak and damage the product which would not be covered under warranty.
    • Is it ok for solar lights to be out in the rain, snow, ice?

Yes, our solar lights are designed to be used outside all year in various weather conditions so it's ok in the rain. However, if it’s in an area on the ground where the water will pool up then you may need to move it as a precaution so it’s not submerged in water. It can also be left outside in the winter with snow and ice. However, if you know it’s about to be buried under snow for a while you may want to move it as a precaution then put it back outside when the snow clears. If not, you’ll need to clear the snow off the solar panel so that it’s able to recharge. Also, you may want to adjust the direction of the solar panel seasonally to get the most amount of sun possible since the sun can be at a different angle in the winter.
  • Lanterns (Battery Powered)

    • Is it ok for battery powered lanterns to be out in the rain, snow, ice?

Yes, our lanterns are designed to be used indoors or outdoors all year. They can be left outside in rain. However, if it’s in an area on the ground where the water will pool up then you may need to move it as a precaution so it’s not submerged in water. They can also be left outside in the winter with snow and ice. However, if you know it’s about to be buried under snow for a while you may want to move it as a precaution then put it back outside when the snow clears.

    • Can I add a battery to my solar fountain so it can charge up and work when not sunny?

If you have a Standard Solar Fountain which only works when in direct sun and you would like it to run more consistently regardless of changes in weather, passing clouds, or not having direct sun on it all day, you can't add a battery to your original solar panel but you can order an IntelliSolar kit (which comes with a solar panel, battery pack, and pump) from our parts dept. This will allow you to turn it on and run it during the day, or turn it off and charge it up during the day. After it's charged you can turn it on at any time such as in the evening and the battery will run the pump. Here is a link to our various kits:

The other option is using an AC adapter to run your Cascade Fountain or Tabletop Fountain on electricity. This is for use with fountains where the plug is out of the water, not for birdbaths where the plug is under water. Here is a link to the AC:

    • Can I leave it outside in winter?

If you live in an area that does not get freezing temperatures in winter then yes you can leave it outside, but if temperatures do reach freezing in your area then it needs to be stored indoors beforehand to avoid damage. Covering it with a tarp is not considered proper winter storage. Even though it’s an outdoor item it’s also a seasonal item.
    • Does it charge up and store power?

It depends on which one you're interested in. We make 2 different types of solar fountains:

If an item is listed as a "Solar Fountain" then it comes with a standard solar panel which only works when the panel is in direct sun. It does not have a battery pack so it will not charge up.

If an item is listed as a “Solar-On-Demand Fountain" then it does come with a battery pack so it can charge up and store power. It will have an on/off switch so you can either turn it on to enjoy it during the day, or you can turn it off to charge it up during the day. Once the battery is charged you will be able to turn it on in the evening and run it just from the battery.

    • What can I use to clean my fountain?

For the inside of the bowl for your birdbath or fountain we just recommend using a simple combination of mild soap with water and a sponge or soft plastic bristle brush. Do not use a metal wire brush or a harsh scrubbing pad.

For the solar panel you can use a glass cleaner or get off general dirt and algae. To remove difficult hard water build up and stains from the glass you can use vinegar or CLR.

For the pump you can rinse out the filter by hand and wipe off the impeller magnet with a cloth and clean down inside the pump with a q-tip cotton swab. Do not use bleach which can discolor the fountain or damage the paint.

To keep the water cleaner longer, which helps keep cleaning your fountain easier and less frequent, we developed our own product called Fountain Fresh which is made in the USA. It uses a proprietary blend of all-natural enzymes to prevent algae from growing in water. It helps keep the water clearer longer which means less cleaning and more enjoying for you and the birds. Plus it's non-pathogenic, non-GMO, and non-toxic so it’s safe for birds, bees, and your pets without any worries! The new and improved liquid formula has active microbes that regenerate and reproduce for continuous waste removal processing and maximum effectiveness. Here is a link to it:

    • Will the pump automatically shut off if the water level gets too low?

Some of them... yes! Currently it depends on which type of fountain. As we update our products for 2025 we are adding water sensors to all new versions of our fountains.  We still have to sell through some old inventory that has older version of the solar kits some fountains currently don't have water sensors, but eventually all our fountains will have it in future. Here is a helpful guide:

      IntelliSolar Fountains
Yes - all of our IntelliSolar fountains come with a water sensor on the pump.

      Solar-On-Demand 2-Tier Fountains
No - our Solar-On-Demand fountains do not have a water sensor on the pump, but customers can purchase a newer model of the pump (model# GPA4T) from our parts dept which has a water sensor to use with their original solar panel.

      Standard Solar Birdbath Fountains
Some of our newer birdbath fountains that we have in stock now come with a water sensor on the pump, but our older ones did not have a water sensor on the pump.

Standard Solar Cascade & Pouring Fountains (on metal stands)
Currently these do not have a water sensor on the pump but we are looking to add it to these fountains in the future.

Standard Solar Ceramic Tabletop Spouting Fountains
Currently these do not have a water sensor on the pump but we are looking to add it to these fountains in the future.

You can check the specs / product details of an item before purchasing to see if it has a water sensor.

  • Traditional Birdbaths

    • Can I leave it outside in winter?

If you live in an area that does not get freezing temperatures in winter then yes you can leave it outside, but if temperatures do reach freezing in your area then it needs to be stored indoors beforehand to avoid damage. Covering it with a tarp is not considered proper winter storage. Even though it’s an outdoor item it’s also a seasonal item.
    • How can I turn a traditional birdbath into a solar fountain?

We make 2 products for this exact purpose so if someone already has a traditional birdbath that they love they can turn it into a solar fountain without buying a whole new birdbath. The product is called an Aquanura Solar Fountain Kit and it comes in 2 sizes. The small Aquanura (model# 21510001) is 6 inches wide and only works when in direct sun. The large Aquanura (model# 21310024) is 9 inches wide and can store power using its removeable battery pack and has a remote control you can use to turn it on and off.

Both sizes of Aquanura come with water sensors so they will stop running when dry to protect the pump and they both have removeable foam to make them float so if you want to use them in a pond or pool that's an option too.

The model that customers choose depends on various factors the size, depth and shape of their birdbath bowl, or how much direct sun their birdbath receives. Minimum water depth required is 1.5 inches but 2 inches is ideal.

  • Warranty

    • Do your products come with a warranty?

Yes! All our products are covered by a 1-year limited manufacturer’s warranty. It is based on the date of purchase, not the amount of time the item was used. If you purchased it from a retailer, not directly from us, or we did not ship it from our warehouse so we don't have a record of it in our system then we may request a copy of your purchase details to determine your warranty period. We may also request photos of the issue.

The warranty covers defects in items that are new, have been used properly, cleaned regularly, and stored indoors during winter. If you have freezing temps in your area then winter storage is a requirement for all birdbaths and fountains. The entire item needs to be stored in a shed/garage/etc and not just the solar kit. Items that do not require winter storage are furniture and solar lights. Damage caused by improper use, not cleaning the pump, accidents, animals, or leaving a birdbath/fountain outside in freezing temperatures is not covered and voids the warranty. Just because they are outdoor fountains does not mean they are all-season fountains. For more details, please read our "Warranty" page:
